Pasta with Clam Sauce

An easy, affordable weeknight meal that’s classy enough for a date night. Pair with white wine or sparkling white wine to accentuate the flavors.

  • 2 (6.5 oz) cans minced clams (368g)
  • ⅓ cup yellow onion, chopped (20g)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ⅓ cup dry white wine (78ml)
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil or oregano
  • dash ground red pepper
  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine (227g)
  • 3 tablespoons snipped parsley


  1. Drain clams, reserve 1/2 cup clam liquid and set aside in a bowl.
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium skillet, cook onion and garlic in hot olive oil for about 4 minutes or until tender.
  4. Add the reserved clam liquid, wine, basil or oregano, and red pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil and simmer for 4 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat, add clams. Simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Once pasta is cooked, drain pasta. Return pasta to hot pan.
  8. Add clam mixture and parsley to pasta and toss.
